The World without Gas

What would happen if we run out of gas tommorow? What would you do? How would you handle it?

In a recent discussion with Steve, we came up with what the city would be like as well as how we should handle such a situation. He said that it will be like the dirty thirties.

First of all, there would definately be a depression. Since so many of our things depend on gas. From our cars that get us places to the trucks that transport all of our goods. The price of everything will go up, and many of us will no longer be able to go to work (if your job will still exist) to get your money.

The streets will probably be litered with cars, and everyone will either bike or walk to get to places. The future will be full of very fit people. But then there will also be those lazy people who will stay home all day and balloon into a giant couch potato.

The economy would probably crumble, the US will no longer be a bully on the world stage because they can no longer operate their war machines. Countries controlling what little gas there is left will either control the world or be an unstable region at constant war.

Many car companies will go bankrupt, the smart ones will merge and try making green cars that run on something like plant oil, solar, hydrogen, or electric tracks.

What will happen to all of those small towns in the middle of nowhere? If they have a farm out there then they may get by, but if not then prepare to see many ghost towns. People will probably make treks to the bigger cities and as a result there will be shanty towns and homelessness all across the bigger cities.

What should we do to get through this? Steve suggested that we all get a lot of land up north and live a farmers life.

Moonites scare Americans

Hmmm seems like Americans getting too paranoid these days. They really need someone to calm them down. It's totally ridiculous how one person seeing light bright and thinking that it is a bomb can cause such a panic.

It's people like this who would freak out if somebody accidentally left their school bag on the bus. They might believe that it was a bomb, ebola ... an ebolabomb or something in it. Hope the charges are dropped and the Boston authorities can just swallow their pride and admit that they went a little too far.

Banning iPod use is a "great" idea

Just today some New York Senator Carl Krueger wants to pass a law which bans the use of all hand-held devices when crossing the streets of New York. This includes cell phones, blackberries, portable gaming systems, and iPods (music players). The reason is that it he believes that people turn into virtual zombies when they use these devices and as a result they become oblivious to their surroundings.
"We’re talking about people walking sort of tuned in and in the process of being tuned in, tuned out," Kruger added. "Tuned out to the world around them. They're walking into speeding cars. They're walking into buses. They're walking into one another and it's creating a number of fatalities that have been documented right here in the city."

The law would have the person fined $100 and as well as a court hearing.

I just don't understand why we should be banning this from pedestrians and not the people in the actual killing machine called the "automobile". Car drivers are the ones who can kill people, and they are free to use their radio, cell phones, talk to passengers. This is insane we should ban all distractions to the driver as well as pedestrians. Better yet we might as well ban all human interaction for both pedestrians and drivers if they are anywhere close to a road. You never know, if a person is having a conversation with their friend, they may inadvertently walk into the middle of the street because they are "tuned out to the world around them".
